BMC

BMC, or Bulk Molding Compound, is a versatile thermoset composite material used in various industries. It is composed of a mixture of thermosetting resins, reinforcing fibers, mineral fillers, and additives. BMC offers several advantages in terms of its mechanical properties, ease of processing, and wide range of applications.

Composition and Properties

BMC is typically made up of a mixture of polyester or vinyl ester resins, glass fibers, mineral fillers (such as calcium carbonate or alumina trihydrate), and various additives (such as flame retardants and pigments). This combination imparts excellent dimensional stability, high strength, stiffness, and heat resistance to the material.

Processing

BMC is processed using compression molding or injection molding techniques. In the compression molding process, the BMC material is placed in a heated mold cavity and subjected to high pressure. The heat and pressure cause the material to flow and conform to the shape of the mold. After curing, the molded part is removed from the mold. Injection molding involves the injection of BMC material into a mold under high pressure, followed by curing and part ejection.

Key Characteristics

High Strength and Stiffness: BMC exhibits high mechanical strength and stiffness, making it suitable for applications requiring structural integrity and load-bearing capabilities.

Dimensional Stability: BMC demonstrates excellent dimensional stability, ensuring that the parts retain their shape and size even under varying environmental conditions.

Heat Resistance: BMC has good resistance to heat, making it suitable for applications that require exposure to high temperatures without deformation

or degradation.Based on this advantage, the tableware made from BMC can be used in microwave ovens

BMC is favored for its exceptional mechanical properties, ease of processing, and ability to meet stringent industry requirements. With its versatility and durability, BMC continues to be a popular choice in a wide range of applications.
